MARCH - I have not recorded anything in the blog since July last year as my family suffered a traumatic situation in the August last year where my granddaughter was born, but very nearly died at birth. Although she survived her birth, she suffered very severe brain damage due to lack of oxygen prior to and at the time of birth. My granddaughter is going to be very badly handicapped with cerebral palsy and it has had a devastating effect on my family and all our lives, to the point that our lives will not be the same any more. It is with much regret that I can no longer afford the time or the inclination to continue this blog for the foreseeable future, however I will continue with the website. Thank you, Pete
2018
JULY - Recordings are going well with Dan & Andy (ADP), although Andy is very busy with work and hasn't been able to attend many get togethers. We have added another four songs to the pool. Work is still going ahead to finish the mixing of Rhys Harper's Album and I am in the finishing stages of cleaning and mastering tracks of Mark the Gardener Mansbridge's album 'Bare Wire'. Working Class Heroes have been busy in the studio again and recorded the Beatles track 'For You Blue'.
JUNE - EUREKA!! I have finally reached the magical 50 euros target, and have been paid the princely sum of 52.23 euros by the distribution company for my 181 tracks on the digital streaming and download sites. However once it got paid into Paypal, converted into Pounds Sterling and had Paypal's fee taken out, I was left with the rather miserly amount of 42.59 pounds. The normal arrangement is 50% for the record label and 50% to be divided between song composers & performers - 21.29 pounds. That equates to roughly each song making 50p or less for it's composers & performers. We ain't going to get rich yet!! Just had the track through from 'Working Class Heroes' for their latest album No. 3. The track is titled 'Stop Crying Your Heart Out' - an Oasis cover. Stop Press Working Class Heroes are working on another track in the studio as I speak - this time a Beatles number. I'm really looking forward to hearing this one. I have started recording with Dan Thacker & Andy Leeson and we have 6 original songs in the pool so far. One song I wrote with help from Dan is called 'Crazy For Your Love' and features Dan on lead Vocals & acoustic rhythm guitar, Andy on Lead & rhythm guitar and me on Bass. Drums have been performed by my great friend Terry Goulding. A second song is called 'Summer' written by Dan and features Dan on lead vocals & acoustic rhythm guitar, Andy on lead & rhythm guitar, Joe Thorne on Bass & keyboards and Terry on Drums. A third song, also written by Dan is called 'Wishing' and just features Dan on lead vocals & acoustic rhythm guitar and Andy on Lead guitar. These 3 songs are still in the demo stage with guide vocals and guide acoustic rhythm guitars, but sound pretty good at this stage for a sneak preview. Have a listen to each of the tracks below. We haven't come up with a name yet so I have just used a temporary name made up of our initials - 'ADP'. So watch this space for more songs as they get recorded. Exciting stuff!!
MAY - Joe Thorne has started to prepare for his next album by grouping together tracks he has created that have not been sung on or included on any albums yet. He calls this the 'stragglers' album, although that is not the official title. Evie has now sung 16 songs, and still going strong. Have been contacted by 'Working Class Heroes's' Victoria Goldsmith that another track has been recorded at Studio Humbug on the Isle Of Wight and is going through the mixing process. When that is done, the track will be forwarded to me for mastering and CD production. Looking forward to hearing what the song is they have chosen. Had a further meeting with fellow collaborators Andy Leeson & Dan Thacker. Andy lives in Rockbourne and is a fine guitarist and should be a great asset to our trio.
APRIL - Have started a new collaboration with a smashing chap from Woodgreen (2 villages away), Dan Thacker, in writing and recording original songs. A second person is also going to join the collaboration, Andy Leeson, but at a later date. Dan has brought 2 original songs to the table, 'Summer' and 'Wishing', which the guide tracks were recorded. I have put the song 'I'm Crazy For Your Love' on the table which Dan is going to work on to get the phrasing right for the vocals. Exciting stuff. I played the tracks to Mark Mansbridge to show him the standard of song writing and recording by musicians of our age. He just commented, ' I wont lose any sleep'. Right the gloves are off and let battle commence!!
MARCH - A slow month with being ill and looking after my wife who was ill as well, so not much done in the studio apart from doing a bit on the various albums and recording Evie. Still working with Dave Mace on Rhys Harper's album which is nearing completion. Also working with Jimmy Martin on his 2nd album. Have started mixing Mark Mansbridge's album. He does not want me to be involved at all in the decision making of the mixing of the tracks, despite my experience. He quite hurtfully said that he did not want them sounding like 'Cliff Richard & The Shadows', inferring that due to my age I mix all songs sounding like that! I felt quite insulted and offended, but I will let him have his way. He is in for a shock though later on, Ha Ha.
FEBRUARY - Busy recording with Evie Armour. Have purchased a DJI Phantom 3 Advanced camera drone so that I can get into aerial photography. Weather is so poor at the moment to start learning to fly it, I'll just have to be patient and wait till the spring - although I did get it going in the lounge very momentarily!!
JANUARY - Busy with working on Steve Thorne's 2nd Album, Brian Moon's 4th solo album, Jimmy Martin's 2nd album, Rhys Harper's 1st album & Mark Mansbridge's 1st Album with my son Andrew Legg. Have also approached local singer from Salisbury, Evie Armour, to record a number of Motown songs to Joe Thorne's backing tracks as well as some of our original songs. In payment for Evie's services, we will record an album for her of her favourite songs. Looking forward to working together.
2017
DECEMBER - Found out, by chance, that I have two entries in the prestigious IMDb (International Movie Database). One as a sound recordist on the Sound Department for a film titled 'Jack, The Last Victim', which was filmed in 2005. My part was to record a show at a theatre in Warminster over a weekend based on Jack The Ripper, and this was a pivotal part of the film. The film was to be screened at the Cannes film festival, but was shelved due to consent problems. The second as a composer with Chris Theobald of a piece of music we composed some years ago, which has been used as background music to a short film by Russian film maker Oleg Lubske titled '20 Attributes Of Corruption'. There you go, you couldn't make it up! But to say I'm chuffed is an understatement!! Got the CD/EP by Rhys Harper finished and produced the week before Christmas. Talk about a rush job!, but we got there in the end and it doesn't sound too bad either. All the tracks can be heard on this site under his name, which is located under the 'Artists/Songs_Studio Artists' button. The full album is yet to be finished - sometime early next year. Watch this space!
NOVEMBER - Production of Sarah Collin's CD 'Music For Hospitals' was completed at the start of the month and gone on sale at Salisbury District Hospital for the chosen charity and fund raising. A whopping 100 CD's were produced in just over two weeks to get them ready for the beginning of November. 2nd CD produced for 'Working Class Heroes'. It contains one track and is titled 'It's Good To Be Free'. Recorded at Studio Humbug, East Cowes, Isle Of Wight, mastered at Sound Investment Studio, Rockbourne and released on the Buzzard Records UK label. See 'Working Class Heroes' page for more details, artwork images and the track it'self which can be played & downloaded.
OCTOBER - I now have 181 tracks available for streaming and downloading from digital music sites such as Itunes, Spotify, Amazon, Google Music, Etc., which can be found by searching under my record label - 'Buzzard Records UK'. This is a small plea, you don't have to pay and download, but if you stream and play from Spotify for free, for every play you make, the studio gets a very small payment - a fraction of a Euro - but all the plays add up. I am unable to withdraw the money earned from the distribution company until I reach 50 euros. I have reached 31 euros so far and still have a way to go, but as soon as I reach the 50 euros, I can then divide the payments up and pay royalties to the composers of the songs. So just by playing you will be helping the studio a little financially. Thank you. Started recording the second album for Steve Thorne (brother of Joe) of his favourite collection of cover songs. No title or album art yet prepared. May be a double album by the number of songs!
SEPTEMBER - During the year I have commenced recording an album by a welsh singer called Rhys Harper, who is a Fireman from Cardiff. Rhys was the boyfriend of Dave Mace's daughter and has a superb voice, typical welsh man. For those of you who don't know, Dave Mace was the bass player with Brian Moon and the Satellites, my old band, and is a session bass/keyboard/pianist for the studio. Dave is producing the CD for Rhys and providing a number of the backing instruments. Other studio musicians are also involved such as myself, Daniel Legg, Jimmy Martin, Terry Goulding, Joe Thorne & Dave Bennett. A 4 track EP/CD is hoped to be produced in time for Christmas, with the full album coming out in the new year. The EP is going to be titled 'Wicked Game'.
AUGUST - Recorded Sarah Collins from the Artcare Department, Salisbury District Hospital playing piano to a number of classical, folk and pop songs, which will be produced on a CD to be sold in aid of funds towards the Artcare Dept. and the Stars Appeal charity at the hospital
JULY - Some of our music produced through Buzzard Records UK is being used in videos on You Tube by Horst von Prondzinski, displaying motorbikes & muscle cars at his home town of Angus, Canada. The music he has chosen is by the Shadows performed by Michael Ireland, a great choice, and a classic country song by Creedence Clearwater Revival performed by Brian Moon. See the videos below for Horst's examples.
JUNE - Saturday 3rd June, RockBorn Music Academy performed live at Radio Odstock, Salisbury District Hospital in aid of Radio Odstock celebrating 40 years at it's current building. Those performing with RMA were Brian Moon, Colin Mitchener, Dan Kent, Terry Goulding, Daniel Legg, Andrew Legg. See photos under photo gallery under main headings.
February - Finally finished Paper Moon's mixing and mastering of their recorded tracks for their album. Very pleased with the finished result, even if I say so myself. Just waiting for the artwork from Benny to complete the CD jackets & printing, and album title. Three years in the making, but well worth the wait!
February - Had a rehearsal at Radio Odstock to test equipment required for monitoring. Came up with the idea to use my Behringer Mixer, in conjunction with headphones, to provide direct monitoring and inputs for the mics, instruments and backing track CD players. Performers are going to be Colin Mitchener, Brian Moon, Terry Goulding, Dan Kent, Daniel Legg, Andrew Legg & Peter Legg. Our spot will be at 3.00pm on the 3rd of June and we will be singing the following songs: 1. Yellow River, 2. Rocking All Over The World, 3. No Matter What, 4. Beautiful Sunday, 5. Have You Ever Seen The Rain, 6. Shaking All Over, 7. Johnny B. Goode, 8. Hippy Hippy Shake, 9. Route 66, Hi Ho Silver Lining. Should be a good day!!
January - Received a request from Ben Johnson at Radio Odstock for 'RockBorn Music Academy' to perform live on June 3rd to help in the celebrations, with other acts, of the opening of the present Radio Odstock Studio - 'Odstock Towers'. Required to perform 70's songs - one has to be 'Yellow River'! And another 'No Matter What' by Badfinger.........!
2016
November - Invited to Radio Odstock at Salisbury Hospital for an interview together with Colin Mitchener & Martin Holloway to publicise the Christmas album, which lasted for three quarters of an hour. Interview went very well and was done informally in the reception room. Probably the only the only air time the album will get!!
November - I thought raising money for charities was supposed to be relatively easy. We provide a product, they've got the means to sell the product - job done! But no, it's never that easy, it turns out that our chosen charity 'Cancer Research UK' can't be bothered to sell the CD's from their many high street shop outlets. They have got so big, ungrateful and used to people running marathons & handing them the money on a plate, that they have lost sight of the basics of fund raising and don't appear to want to put any effort in assisting fund raisers. So Cancer Research UK have now lost out and our funds will now go to a more worthy and grateful cause, 'The Stars Appeal' at Salisbury District Hospital.
01.11.16 - The Christmas Album Finally Finished and ready for production. For those who are wondering why the album was titled '12 Songs For Christmas', when in fact there are 13 songs on the album, I will explain. I was put onto a female duo who live in the village of Rockbourne called 'Eyes For Gertrude'. The duo consists of Chantelle Pike & Hannah Dean. Chantelle comes from a well known farming family, and is related to Joe Thorne. I originally asked Chantelle & Hannah if they would sing on the album to some of the songs we were recording, but they were not able to do this due to their busy schedule, so instead they very kindly donated their track 'Heaven' from their recently recorded album 'Residential Bliss'. It is a beautiful song and compliments the album very well, so thank you very much to Chantelle & Hannah.
28.09.16 - Finally had my operation at Salisbury Hospital. The Consultant told me that he removed just under two feet of my bowel via key hole surgery. Went in on the Wednesday to have the Op, and sent home on the Friday! How's that for a quick turnaround. Lots of pain and running to the toilet in the following weeks!!!
16.07.16 - Had a great 60th birthday party attended by family and friends. Members of the Rockbourne Music Academy put on a great cabaret evening of entertainment, including my two sons, who played with me on stage for the first time in a newly formed group for the evening called the 'Crusty Nobs'.
06.07.16 - After my last stint in hospital last week, there is now hope that I will get my greatly needed and urgent operation very soon. Thank you to the staff at Salisbury Hospital for looking after me so well.
01.07.16 - Drums
01.07.16 - Unfortunately, due to health issues (perforated bowel) and awaiting an operation to remove the section of bowel, it was decided to postpone the Christmas Album till next year. My apologies and thanks to all those who have contributed to the making of the album so far.
25.06.16 - For those who have not noticed, I have made some subtle changes to the website, plus one big one. Firstly, there is a new menu button at the top of the pages - marked 'Working Class Heroes'. This is a terrific and exciting band from my home area - the Isle of Wight - that Buzzard Records UK are promoting and publicising via this website and my account 'Buzzard Records UK' on Soundcloud. They are a studio band working out of Studio Humbug at East Cowes, and I am pleased to be collaborating with them as it enables me to maintain links with the Island, especially of the musical kind, so watch this space or rather their page! There are also 'back to the top' markers that will appear on the lower right hand side of each page to make it easier to return to the top of the page. You may have noticed that the 'Contact' menu button is missing, that is because I have installed a fancy App that places a 'Contact Us' button on the lower right of the bottom of every page for people to click on should they wish to contact me or any of the musicians or bands that have recorded with Buzzard Records UK and are uploaded onto this website. It makes things a little easier. Contact me if you have any comments, likes or hates. I'll be pleased to hear from you.
My good friend Phil Malyon is venturing into new waters by starting a new business, taking commissions for pet and family portraits in monochrome pencil drawings. Phil has always been a talented artist in watercolours and coloured pencil drawings, doing drawings for himself or family or friends - I actually have half a dozen of Phil's watercolours and drawings and can personally vouch for the quality he attains. He is also a talented photographer and some of his work can be found on the page 'The Phil Malyon Collection' on this site. The drawing below is of his 3 year old grandson Sam, and if you click on it with the mouse, it will take you to his home page. So if you are in the market for a portrait of a loved family member or pet, contact Phil. His drawings are superb. www.philmalyonpencilart.com . Phil is also on Facebook - Facebook.com/philmalyonpencilart. Buzzard Records UK is pleased to support & promote Phil in his new venture.
2015
01.10.15 - We have begun in earnest with the new Christmas Album in aid of Cancer Research UK comprising of 13 tracks. 10 of the tracks are original compositions and the remaining 3 are traditional Christmas songs with new arrangements. One of the tracks has been donated to the album by the local Rockbourne duo 'Eyes For Gertrude' from their new album 'Residential Bliss', which was recorded in Vancouver, Canada last November. We are very grateful to Chantelle & Hannah as the track titled 'Heaven' is a beautiful song, full of hope in times of need. We hope to have all the recording and mixing finished by the end of October, when CD production will be under way. We are also pleased to announce two new singers on the album: young 11 year old Rosie Coyle from Sandleheath and Lorraine Jerrard from Alderholt. We look forward to hearing the finished results with them on.
31.07.15 - Saw my son Daniel play in his band 'The Overkills' (he's in the centre and the 'proby' as he only joined earlier this year) . They were playing at the Robin Hood Pub at Sholing, Southampton and put on a really good tight, professional performance. The music they play is covers of indie and heavy rock, and Danny the lead singer & front man is great at getting the audience whipped up and on their feet, pogoing around the dance floor. To see more photos, go to the The Overkills page under the Artist/Song button.
31.07.15 - Release of the Album 'Fugitive On The Run' by Brian Moon. This is Brian's 3rd solo album and 2nd in the Fugitive series, featuring help from those helpful outlaws 'The Hell In The Studio Gang'. This album also features an original composition for the title track 'Fugitive On The Run' by Peter Legg & Joe Thorne. The haunting trumpets were performed by Geoff Sims and the backing vocals provided by Colin Mitchener. A great album for the Brian Moon fan. Get yours today! or download from Brian's page.
07.07.15 - Release of the album 'Ken Takes It Easy' by Ken Evans from South Wales. Ken travelled down from his home in Llanelli and stayed for a few days in a local guest house to record his first solo album. Ken has played much of his 84 years in country bands, including 'Rodeo', playing bass and singing backing vocals. Ken felt the need to get his vocals down now before his singing voice gives up for good. We had a great time recording his vocals to backing tracks he brought with him, and Ken even sang to three of Joe Thorne's backing tracks which he loved - especially 'Me and Bobby Mcgee'. 12 excellent easy listening country style songs. All can be downloaded from Ken's page on this website or from Soundcloud on my account - Buzzard Records UK .
08.06.15 - Terry became the proud owner of a Canon 'L' series f4.0 24-105mm Zoom, and is itching to use it in this good weather.
26.05.15 - Started recording with Salisbury 6 piece band 'The Treble Makers'. 12 guide tracks recorded of classic cover songs, with more to be recorded in due course for a double album. Really looking forward to working with the guy's & girl's and producing a high quality album for them.
06.02.15 - Further recording with Paper Moon member Dave Adams. Acoustic and Electric guitars recorded. Tracks are now really taking shape.
30.01.15 - Further recording with Paper Moon member Dave Adams. Acoustic and Electric guitars recorded. Sounding really good.
As from the 01.01.15, Sound Investment Music Productions are pleased to announce the start of 'Sound Investment Music Publishing' which will involve the sale of Transcribed Original Songs onto Song Sheets for the use of Musicians, Recording Artists, Theatres, Film Companies, TV Companies and everyone who likes one of our original songs and would like the Sheet Music of it to play to at home. I have great memories of buying sheet music to the Shadows hits like Apache and Beatles songs to play to at home on my guitar. Each song sheet comes in a PDF file for easy download and printing, and costs a very reasonable £3.00 UKP. Payments are made through Paypal, and once payment has been confirmed, the file is automatically downloaded. It's as easy as that. Check out the page 'Music Publishing'.

14.10.14 - Buzzard Records UK now has 662 tracks on Soundcloud for music lovers worldwide to listen to and download, plus 110 free high quality backing tracks. I don't know of anyone else on Soundcloud with this number of tracks on one account.
03.10.14 - Release of Brian Moon's album 'The Fugitive', which features a great album front photo of Brian as the 'Fugitive' with 5 cohorts involved with the album dressed as outlaws with bandanas covering their faces. The 5 cohorts are Joe Thorne, Geoff Sims, Tim Gulliver, Colin Mitchener & Peter Legg - The Hell In The Studio Gang. The album has been uploaded onto Soundcloud and this website.
20.09.14 - A BIG THANK YOU to everyone visiting the site and downloading the Free Backing Tracks. According to the stats on Soundcloud, 245 were downloaded in the last 7 days. It shows that we are becoming very popular and easy to find on Google and other search engines. Well done!

June: Album completed by 'Dusty Rogues' (Ted Draper & Steve Thorne) titled 'A tribute to The Everly Brothers'. (Uploaded on SoundCloud and Website).
June 2014: Took delivery of a new set of Traps Electronic drums for the Studio, purchased from Absolute Music in Poole. I have dealt with Absolute on a number of occasions and found them to be extremely friendly and helpful. The drums happened to have a problem with the electronic brain, but they replaced it, no problem. Buzzard Records UK recommends Absolute Music. 'Paper Moon' are to be the first musicians to use them for recording their first album at the studio. Terry Goulding (former drummer of 'Movin' On') is our resident drummer.
24.04.14 - Had meeting with local band 'Paper Moon' who are very keen to do some recording for publicity and hopefully a CD. A very exciting project which may commence in June. Watch this space! **Recording starts on 24.06.14**

Hopefully a collaboration of songs with Dick Mackridge, a South African musician/singer, which sounds very promising. **First song just completed an old Shadows song titled 'Don't Make My Baby Blue'. Two versions have been completed with Joe Thorne playing the lead guitar on one version and myself playing the lead guitar on the second version. Both versions have been uploaded onto Soundcloud and this website under Rockbourne Music Academy ('Artists/Songs' button).
